Cloud migration & modernisation

Move applications and data through controlled migration waves, with rehearsed cutovers, validated outputs and operational handover.

Plan the move around workload dependencies.

We plan migration waves, map dependencies and select rehost, replatform or refactor approaches by workload. Data validation, cutover rehearsal, recovery testing and operational handover are included in the design. Modernisation can include managed data services, containers and application integration where these support the business case.

We map upstream and downstream dependencies, identify business blackout periods and agree recovery expectations. A representative workload tests the migration pattern before it is applied to a larger wave.

Illustrative efficiency example

Preparing migration runbooks

Reusable deployment patterns and cutover checklists reduce manual preparation.

Assume 40 instances per month, with average time reduced from 180 to 90 minutes per instance.

50%

Less time per instance

60 hours

Monthly capacity released

180 → 90 min

Assumed time before and after

Measure: Human handling time, including validation and exceptions; validate quality and total operating costs.

Calculation: (180 − 90) ÷ 180 × 100 = 50%; 40 × (180 − 90) ÷ 60 = 60 hours. Figures rounded where needed.

Illustrative assumptions, not a client result, forecast or guarantee. Validate the baseline and outcome in your own environment. Capacity released does not equal cash savings; account for quality, utilisation, implementation, software and ongoing support costs.

Questions, answered

A clearer starting point.

When should an application be refactored rather than rehosted?

Refactoring is useful when the current architecture obstructs a specific business or operating requirement. Rehosting can be appropriate when continuity or timing matters more than immediate architectural change.
